Hello, I don't find any thread related (but i'am new, so sorry if i failed). I'am interest by (indie) game development and i started using construct 2 game engine by scirra. I would be interest by getting some advice and opinions about it. Does some of you also use it? PS: English isn't my native language, so sorry if i sound a bit weird.
Hi, welcome on board. I've never used it before but I've heard good stuff about it. I don't think it's as popular as the other engines some devs use.
I've used Construct 2, it's now my go-to engine for 2d games. I have had a couple of C2-based minigames, really simple test projects, online in the past but they're offline at the moment. Will try to get that working again. (I'm currently going through a ton of restructuring on my website TriumphantArtists.com and other sites connected to that, so a lot of the content on my sites is in flux at the moment.) But for 3d, I use Unity plus the Playmaker addon which is - it so happens - 50% off for the next couple days incidentally. Playmaker is a drag and drop coding solution for Unity so non-coders can implement a lot of things without scripting. There's also another GUI based coding method for Unity called Bolt, which I hear is also good but I haven't used it. Basically I'm a handmade/digital 2d and 3d/video artist first and a game developer second, my art is way better than my ability to code. So that's kind of where I'm coming from. I am working on an indie adventure game with O-scale miniature-art visuals (Miniature Multiverse) and a lot of stock media collections for gamedevs on itch.io. But, yes, I've used C2 and it's great. There's a new version - Construct 3 - at $99/year and it is apparently even better and can import projects from Construct 2 and offers new features C2 doesn't include, but I've yet to pony up the cash for that.
Construct can faster to make games, also easy to use. There are many tutorials in https://www.construct.net/en/tutorials. howtoconstructdemos.com also have many nice demo projects. You can see beginner article:https://www.construct.net/en/tutorials/new-to-construct-where-to-start-62/page-3 There are more you can find in internet.
