I've been trying to get started with making games but..

    i'm not sure what software to use to start cuz all i know is i want to start with something 2D. i have a few ideas, some more tile-based then others, what do you think i should start with?

    You can learn something from the hottest MMOs, like FFXIV or World of Warcraft. And highly recommend using this service to make you invincible

    I second Game Maker. I start with game maker original, a long time ago, And i made a lot of little fun games and got my first experience programming. funny when I came back from making games for a long time, I started with Unity C# and ive ever only finished one game lol. Game Maker is def the place to start
