Welcome to the new Indie Gamer Forums! I was given ownership of this site over a year ago. You can read more about it here: http://forums.indiegamer.com/threads/the-past-present-and-future-of-indiegamer-com.36558/ Up until now I've just kept things status quo and really didn't make any major changes. A few tweaks here and a new forum category there, but nothing major. I was then contacted by one of our community members, named Tai (@DukeofRealms) who offered multiple times to convert the out-dated vBulletin software to XenForo, a much more modern forum software. Being my cautious, paranoid self, I said, no thanks, things are just fine here. However Tai was persistent and months later I graciously accepted his offer to convert the site. The look and feel has changed dramatically, there are new social-integration features, there are avatars (if you like that sort of thing), and best of all there is a new spam management system which should prevent the need for new user's posts being moderated. Hopefully all the things you've come to know and love are still here, and if not, please use the Contact link below to let me know what's missing/not working. The things I'm already aware of that are currently still in progress: - Badges - Making old vBulletin post-to-post links work again - Some videos didn't transfer too well - Minor look and feel options Overall, I hope you like the changes. Tai has offered to stick around and help whip this site into shape again. Thanks Tai!
I've added in redirects, all old links (provided that they still exist here) will redirect to the version on this site. For example, the original link from a 2004 thread will redirect to the new version here. Here is an old link from 2004 http://forums.indiegamer.com/showthread.php?s=d359a162eba015365d53f3b797099220&goto=newpost&t=779 Should be good now
Man, does this look beautiful! I came in here briefly a little last night. To check up and the site looked like it was in the beta phase, should've screen capped the whole thing to show. Though it looks significantly better than the previous look. I greatly appreciate the new layout critically.
Glad you like it! We'll be making some visual tweaks as time goes on, but it s a good starting point.
And to the Duke too. btw. I see that the post edits is not there yet. ps: I was replying to this post but as it is a year old I'll put it here: It is good to see that the site is rolling and improving. I have to admit that one upon a time it was very valuable source of information for me and the more I got from here than brought by myself. The last months, years I was lurking from time to time to see if it still breathing. I'm operating in the limited zone of game development (audio stuff) so my business wise input can not be great if any but I'm always interested in reading about what's fresh inside the pond.
@NO9 I think I fixed the Edit Post problem. Let me know if it still doesn't work for you. Also, thanks for the kind words. This site used to be the epicenter for indie game development and business before "indie games" were popular. Hopefully it can become that again one day.
I've been a member for years and when I came back to check on the forum I did a double-take. Before the change in ownership so many long-term members left and I'm hoping that they come back and that the membership continues to grow. Looks great.
I've been a member since before the UI changed to what it had been before the recent update. It was just long lists of posts, nothing fancy but I still found it a great site to find freelance artist jobs. The new interface looks great! Good job guys!
